Urea is used when applying dye solutions directly to fabric, as in tie dyeing or hand painting. It attracts moisture from the air to keep the fabric damp for a longer stretch of time - allowing for more time for the dye to react with the fiber and yields deeper shades. Urea can be used with Sodium Alginate thickener for screen printing, painting or direct dye application.
